Work in Canada – Caregiver Pathway: PR Opportunity (2025 Update)

Home Child Care Provider & Home Support Worker Pilots

Canada continues to face growing demand for in-home caregivers. To address this need, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) offers two immigration pilots:

• Home Child Care Provider Pilot
• Home Support Worker Pilot

These pathways allow eligible applicants to work in Canada and apply for Permanent Residency (PR) after gaining qualifying experience.

🔹 In-Canada Pathway (Work Permit Holders)

This stream is for applicants already inside Canada on a valid work permit. Key eligibility criteria:

• Minimum 6 months of related work or study experience in one of 4 eligible NOC codes (44100, 44101, 42202, 33102)
• Language test scores of at least CLB 4 in all four abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid full-time job offer (minimum 30 hrs/week) in one of the only two eligible occupations:
  • NOC 44100: Home Child Care Provider
  • NOC 44101: Home Support Worker
• No LMIA required
• Non-point-based system: once submitted, applications go directly for PR assessment

• 44101: Home Support Worker
• 33102: Health Care Aide
